Welcome to Silverthorn Australian Stock Horse StudGloucester, NSW, Australia | We
are situated in the Gloucester Tops on the Gloucester
River, in a beautiful valley that runs from river to mountain tops.
A beef cattle property with country so steep that
cattle-work is a difficult task but is efficiently achieved from the backs
of our reliable Australian Stock Horses (ASH), enabling us to produce
sure-footed, easy going mounts that earn us our living every day. These
same horses, without missing a beat, are shown in high level ASH
competitions most weekends, after the week’s work is done.
We pride ourselves on the excellent bloodlines that
our horses carry, and enjoy breeding, raising, showing and breaking-in our
youngsters and seeing them excel in whatever discipline their ultimate
owners choose.
Our own show team has its share of success in the
led, hack, working and campdraft arena which we feel reflects on the
choices we have made in the selection of our breeding stock. Our aim is
always to produce a line of horses that are sound, easy going, good
minded, and of consistently uniform type.
We feel our long-term breeding programme is on track with the pleasing outcomes of matings by Jugaby, Smoke and Coolabah to daughters and sisters of our foundation sire Montcalm Luke. Shotgun, one of the last sons of Montcalm Luke, was given a few mares last season and we are confident that with his great looks and temperament together with his impeccable breeding will produce some quality foals for us.

Currently we are offering six stallions at stud:
Late in 2008, the dual registered ASHS/AQHA, Crillee Amarillo Oak by Docs Freckles Oak joined our stallion listing. His introduction gives breeders the opportunity to use this successfully proven outcross to produce versatile and good minded horses. Earlier this year we purchased the Acres Destiny colt Cunnoo Destinys Blueprint and with his impeccable good manners and ability we feel confident that he is going to make a worthy ambassador for our stud.
