The sweet brown Jugaby filly Heidi has been sold to Karin Howard near Rockhampton. Karin purchased Heidi as a futurity horse and we look forward to updates on her progress.

We have three smart geldings on our Sale Page and as soon as Sydney Royal Show is over we will be bringing in a fresh group of breakers.

2nd March, 2008 - Hunter Regional Show Horse Association - In the Purple Hack Show

Suddenly with only a couple of days notice that the purple zone had turned green we found ourselves able to travel to Morisset for our first show since the outbreak of EI. The show was mainly a hack show with a few breed classes included, but for us it was a welcome outing to finally get our horses out prior to Sydney Royal which is nearing rapidly.

It was like first day back to school! The air was charged excitement with people were greeting friends all over the place. Horses were pretty excited too with many sighted running off without handler or rider with cries of "Shut the gate" to be heard on more than one occasion. Obviously this was the first opportunity for most people to get their horses out before Sydney Royal and it was the biggest turnout we've ever seen at Morisset.

We took two horses with us, Silverthorn My Girl, our 5 year old mare; and our yearling colt Silverthorn Rookie for his first outing ever. It was a good day, Rookie won his 4 years and under (fillies/colts, geldings) class in the Australian Stock Horse ring, from a very strong field, and My Girl placed 3rd in her led class in a big line-up of classy mares and geldings under 15hh.

April then saddled up My Girl and rode her for several placings in both the ASH ring and in open hack classes.

A good result for Rookie - a blue ribbon on his first outing.

We've been advised by the Australian Stock Horse Society that we have been selected as eligible to be included on their "2008 Prominent Breeders' List". This list is available for persons who enquire through Head Office about purchasing or exporting Australian Stock Horses and thereby will create more sale opportunities for our stud.

It's always nice to hear from owners of our horses and what they are up to now.

The Bliss family, whose discipline is dressage, now own Silverthorn St Jude have just made contact with us with an update of St Jude's progress with them. Jude is by Montcalm Luke out of Six S Stud Charity, which makes him full brother to Danny Boy, My Girl, Danni Girl, and Elliette.

Clare Bliss and Jude have competed in the Young Rider Championships at Preliminary level, as well as at Bowral, Warringah, and Interschool competitions.

Also we are getting regular correspondence from the Tate family in Victoria, with daughter Scarlett's success with Silverthorn Danny Boy, also now in the dressage arena. Scarlett is now gearing up for Barastoc - good luck Scarlett!

We are looking forward to hearing more of these two outstanding geldings and their young riders in the near future.

This week has been a busy one with three of our youngsters being sold. These are Silverthorn Souffle, Silverthorn Elle Astra and Barsham Suntrack. People seem to be getting more confident now that the EI threat is lessening and are looking around for their next performance horse.

At present we have 9 two-year-olds just started with their breaking-in and we are pleased with each and every one of them.

Keep a watch out for them as they appear on the website.

Next to come in for breaking-in is this inquisitive trio - Silverthorn Durallie, Montcalm Lester and Silverthorn Cobark - all by Knights Jugaby.

It seems that the equine flu virus is losing its impetus with fewer and fewer cases being reported on the DPI website.

With the travelling bans easing somewhat we have been experiencing a surge of interest once again in our young horses.

We have just started on some very nice geldings and fillies who will be ready for sale in about two months.

Pictured is Paul on Walkout on his first ride (by Jugaby out of Eclipse).

Let's hope that the strict restrictions we are all experiencing will soon be lifted and we are all able to get back to our normal activities.

With school out over the summer period we have had a few young people spending time here gaining practical experience working with us on our horses and cattle. We really enjoy helping these keen youngsters with their handling and riding skills and watching them steadily improve during their stays. It really is amazing how much can be achieved when you have two or three extra sets of hands during a day's work.

The following pictures speak for themselves:
