Gloucester Branch ASHS Annual Presentation and Dinner on 30th July:
A great social evening for members of the Gloucester Branch ASHS and
Gloucester ASHLA.
Silverthorn horses did very well in the 2004-2005 pointscore with:
- My Girl taking out Hi-Point Hack, Hi-Point Led Horse, and then the
ultimate, Overall Hi-Point Horse. Very pleasing result for a two-year-old.
- Madalyn, now out in the broodmare paddock awaiting her Knights Jugaby
foal, was runner-up to My Girl in the Hi-Point Hack, and
- Country Music, our yearling filly was runner-up to MyGirl in the Hi-Point
Led.
Sunday June 12, 2005 - Manning Valley Hacking & Dressage Club

Carolyn Murphy rode Knights Jugaby at the MVH&DC Gloucester Dressage
competition for his third ever dressage start. With only a few rides on him in
preparation (and none for over the 6 months previous) the combination was 1st in
the 1.1 and was 3rd in the 1.2. The judges described his paces as "lovely
[and] rhythmical" and "expressive" and, from a dressage
perspective, concluded that he is a "lovely horse".

JUNE LONG WEEKEND, 11TH-13TH
A very pleasant weekend at home with plenty of visitors, including Mr and Mrs
Paul and Debbie Davidson and their boys who travelled from Orange, NSW this
looking for quality young stock horses for the whole family to enjoy and show
and went home with two very nice young horses:
- Silverthorn Moss Rose (Silverthorn Roulette x Montcalm Luke), the special
little black filly who was advertised on our Youngstock For Sale page
and
- the super flashy weanling colt Silverthorn Chan (Timor Jenny x Montcalm
Luke), full brother to Silverthorn Cooee.
Congratulations Paul and Debbie on your choices.

Pictured are Paul Davidson and Paul Wardell on the sale of Moss Rose and
Chan.
WAIKON PARK COOLABAH
We are delighted to announce that we have the rare opportunity
to stand a wonderful old horse, WAIKON PARK COOLABAH at Silverthorn ASH Stud
this season. Coolabah is a son of ABDUL and full brother to Waikon Park ABRAY.
Serious ASH breeders and campdrafters are invited to take advantage of this
unique chance to acquire this bloodline by booking mares early. We will also be
using him over some of our own mares. See Waikon Park Coolabah page.

Waikon Park Coolabah in his prime.
Successful competitor Bob Murray has just purchased the lovely bay filly by
Knights Jugaby out of Silverthorn Juliet to add to his stable of Silverthorn
horses. Congratulations Bob, it will be great to see the first of Jugaby's stock
emerging in the showring this year.
North West Branch ASHS Annual Show - Judges Lyn and Ken Knight and Kellie
Robertson
A rather late show but we felt worthwhile the effort. Despite the terrible
drought conditions being experienced the North West Branch conducted a very
successful and well attended show. Great to watch the 23 stallions in the
stallion draft under lights on the Saturday night on a top campdraft ground.
Interesting to view each stallion paraded with a commentary on his breeding and
performances prior to the draft.
- Our team won the Breeders Group of three with My Girl, Country Music and
Springfield; and the sires progeny group (Montcalm Luke) of two with
Springfield and My Girl.
- Knights Jugaby was champion stallion in his led class.
- My Girl had a great show with a 1st in her led 2-year-old filly, 2nd in
the 2-year-old progressive futurity, a first in the ASH hack three and
under, under 15hh, a third in the open mare hack, and with young April
Spriggs on board, a 3rd in April's junior working class.
- Country Music was third to Bob Murray's Springfield in both the led
yearling filly class and the yearling progressive futurity.
- Paul rode Bob's three-year-old colt Cooee, on Cooee's first outing under
saddle and took out 2 very creditable thirds in huge classes, one in the ASH
hack three and under, over 15hh and the other in the novice hack over 15hh.
- Young April Spriggs, a serious pony competitor, broke out of the pony
ranks and joined us on our trip to Narrabri to ride My Girl for a third in a
very large ridden class and also gained a third in the junior handler class
- congratulations April, well done.
Stroud Show, 1st April, 2005 - Judge, Mr G Idstein
A beautiful autumn day, plenty of competition for our last local show for the
season. Nice to see the two Silverthorn geldings, Royal Astra and Montane out
with their young riders collecting a few ribbons.
We had a good show with our two fillies My Girl and Country Music.
Music won her yearling filly class and Girl ended up with Champion Mare/Filly
and Supreme ASH Exhibit. Girl also did well under saddle with a 2nd in the
novice hack, a 1st in the mare hack, a 2nd in her novice working and a 3rd in
the mare working - a very pleasing result for a two-year-old.
Pictured at Stroud Show is Mikayla with Montane and Royal Astra.
