Seasons Greetings

2014 has been a huge year and one that will hold special memories for all of us here at Silverthorn.

Our horsemanship clinics both at home and away are always a source of pleasure and satisfaction. To watch riders improve before our very eyes and then later, to see them competing at elite levels of their disciplines with great success, fills us with a great sense of achievement. We have been very fortunate to have been assisted with talented coaches from other disciplines as well as our own staff, whose competent expertise is reflected in the wonderful achievements they have enjoyed in their own performances over the past 12 months.

We’ve been favoured many great wins for our hard working team over the year – to be awarded the Prince of Wales Trophy for our mare Silverthorn My Girl campaigned by our trainee Ashley Whiting was a highlight, as was the Brisbane Royal Show successes of Brittany Hetherington on Silverthorn Guns and Roses who won the ASHLA, the Four and Under Station Horse Challenge; and then awarded Champion ASH Hack. Both girls have been a great source of pride with their dedication and professionalism representing Silverthorn.

We have some talented young horses being prepared for 2015 and are looking forward to introducing them to the showring.

Our stallions Shotgun and Freckles continue to produce outstanding foals for us, making the choice of which ones to campaign and retain very difficult indeed.

We were very sad to when Ashley decided to move on in her career with a position that we hope will bring her much kudos and joy. For the past two and a half years we have watched and helped this talented young rider develop into a force to be reckoned with both in the training pen and on the show ring.

Then joining us, straight from Tocal College in October, comes Nathan Butler, a capable young man whose background is campdrafting, and with his talents in this area will perhaps give us another avenue for success.

We wish you a joyous Christmas and may all that is beautiful, meaningful, and brings you joy, be yours this holiday season.
