Paul and Shania enjoyed their morning with Gary LeBrocq and Leanne Haywood at Kempsey yesterday.
On board were 4 year old Silverthorn Sapphire (Ima Smooth Blue Cat x Silverthorn Eclipse) and 2 year old filly Bullseye Siena. Both worked really well in preparation for the coming ASHS National Show.
Thank you Gary for your encouraging words for Shania, and Leanne for taking the photos.

SILVERTHORN MAN O WAR
Our young stallion Silverthorn Man O War has proven himself with many brilliant performances with notable wins at National and Branch level.
Silverthorn Man O War is a five-year-old modern breed stock horse stallion by Conductor and from Cee Dee Destiny. His story starts with our good fortune of being loaned his dam, Cee Dee Destiny, by our friend Karen Miles of Cee Dee Stock Horse Stud to specifically breed a performance horse.
His personality and outlook clearly displayed an intellectually curious and inquisitive mind ever since the day of his birth, when he would venture forth to investigate anyone within range or proximity.
Keeping in mind our plans for his future as a performance horse, we resisted showing him as a yearling and two-year-old. Our focus was working to develop a horse with a solid grounding to produce a reliable, athletic and competitive adversary in the disciplines embraced by the Australian Stock Horse Society.
Our plan to make a โ€œperformanceโ€ horse of him was not difficult as we had the advantage of having produced a compliant, trainable, responsive animal with natural ability โ€“ as well as time on our side.
From the age of two he has been used as a lead horse for breakers and young horses here at our breaking-in and training establishment; a demonstration horse at Paul Wardell Horsemanship Clinics; and long hours on the job working cattle that is part of our operation.
As a three-year-old in the run-up year of 2015, with Brittany Hetherington his rider/handler, Mannie was starting to make his presence felt with many championships in led, hack, working and futurities at ASHS Branch and agricultural shows. This combination was to soon to appear on the radar as a force to be reckoned with.
Highlights of Silverthorn Man O Warโ€™s performances are:
2016 ASHS National Show saw Man O War win Highest Placed ASHLA in the National Futurity; third overall in the National Futurity; first place novice hack three years and under, station horse 3 years and under, second placings in pleasure hack colt 3 years and under and working colt 3 years; and third place hack colt 3 years.
At the 2016 Gloucester Branch Challenge held over four rounds, Man O War won the first round (two-handed cutting and utility horse); placed second in the second round (two-handed cutting and utility horse); won the fourth round (campdraft and working horse); and was Overall Winner of the 2016 Challenge.
Gloucester Branch Show saw him take out champion hack, supreme ridden, and open challenge.
At Eastern Branch Show was sashed reserve champion led stallion; champion hack, reserve champion working; supreme ridden exhibit, Super Horse of the Show, and open challenge.
2016 NSW ASH Breeders Championships and Futurities was another very successful show being awarded reserve champion led stallion, champion working four years and under, supreme champion working, runner up in the Champagne Stakes, and winner of ASH four years and under challenge.
County of Cumberland Branch Show โ€“ Reserve champion led stallion, won senior ASHLA, reserve champion working 15hh and under, won the four-year-old futurity, won the challenge overall, and was highest scoring ASHLA.
North West Branch ASH Show โ€“ Won senior ASHLA, champion curb bit hack, supreme ASH hack, champion led colt or stallion, champion working stallion colt or gelding, won Open Plainsman Challenge.
In 2017 Brittany and Man O War continued their achievements winning ASHLA at Canberra Royal Show.

At the 2017 ASHS National Championships won 4-year-old maturity hack section, was 6th overall in the National Maturity, won hack stallion 4 years, and was reserve champion working stallion 4 years old.

Sydney Royal Show 2017 he represented us well winning the stockmenโ€™s turnout, ASH hack stallion or colt, senior time trial and was highest placed ASHLA in the most versatile ASH exhibit.

Far North Coast (NSW) Branch ASHS Annual Show and Futurities โ€“ second place in Open Hack Challenge overall; champion working horse; first place in 4-year-old maturity overall; first place ASHLA senior rider; and champion hack.

Gloucester Branch ASHS Show โ€“ first place ASHLA senior; champion hack; champion working; and supreme ridden.

Eastern Branch ASHS Breeders and Performance Championships and Campdraft โ€“ champion hack; second place in open challenge overall; first place in ladies campdraft cutout; and third place in maiden campdraft.

2017 NSW ASH Breeders Championships and Futurities โ€“ Winner overall of the RM Williams Champagne Stakes.

County of Cumberland Branch ASHS Show โ€“ First overall of open challenge; first place ASHLA; champion working; and supreme ridden exhibit.

Moss Vale Branch ASHS Show โ€“ Second overall in open challenge; champion working; champion senior ASH hack; and supreme ridden ASH.

2017 is his first open stud season and we are looking forward to 2018 when his first crop of foals hit the ground.
Our bylineโ€ From the high country โ€ฆ to the main arenaโ€ means exactly that - our horses are workhorses during the week and by weekโ€™s end are competition horses. Mannie is no exception and plays an important part in the running of our beef cattle property.
